Happy Days

Happy days are here again -- my refrigerator is working!  It only took a week (give or take a day) and $450.  That is for a three-year-old refrigerator, on which we have already spent $125. (on a new icemaker).

Take this as a warning:  think long and hard before you consider buying a KitchenAid refrigerator.

As far as the car is concerned, Honda was unable to find anything wrong with the transmission.  We have gotten that assessment in writing, and will hold onto that until we decide what to do.  I'm sure it will be helpful if we want to go back to Honda and trade the car in.  (My husband's idea -- that's why he gets the big bucks, and I just blog!)  :)

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

  1. The appliance makers all seem to think thatonce they have your money you are at their mercy. I am so tired of the attitude that you just spent possibly thousands on an appliance and if something goes wrong you are just stuck. We bought a GE fridge several years ago and just after the 1 year warranty is up the ice maker went wonky. I called and the customer service person said yeah, they had a lot of problems with that model but it was past warranty, sorry. They knew they made a crummy product but you are still out of luck! I dont know what company would be any different.

  2. WooHoo! Happy days are here again.

I am spoiled that I am a bear when one of my appliances is out of commission.

Wise idea about the Honda trade-in. But, we know you have the brains, too.

  3. "Louis's" experience with Kitchen Aid (so far!) has been good - but he hasn't had a breakdown or had to use their so-called 'Customer Service.' What a letdown that you've had so much trouble with them. This could be a case study in how to lose customers.

  5. Well, I am so glad that your fridge is finally fixed and working again.
We have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher and have had it for about 8 years and never a wrinkle !! It's been one of the best we've had....so...go figure!! Just never can tell, I guess.
ANYWAY...have a great weekend knowing your ice cream will stay FROZEN !!
And, thanks for your email on the note cards. Just let me know and I will send PayPal payment.
    love, bj

  6. We have a 2001 Honda Accord. It was the one bad year out of many many good years for the automatic transmission. When we took it in they replaced the entire transmission for free. It was a recall or something so they just went ahead and did it. What a pain it would have been if we'd had to replace it ourselves? I understand completely about appliance woes. I seem to have my unfair share of them. Glad you're back up and running!

  8. Bless your heart! Everyone thinks Kitchenaide is the BEST! Well, I guess we see now just how good they aer not! Or maybe they are good for those who want to spend a fortune when they break? I am so sorry that you had to go through all that to get your fridge to work again. I know you are relieved and I hope it lasts forever this time.

  9. Well...I'm sorry you had to spend the money...but YAY you can have frozen stuff again! It just bites when things we pay good money for don't hold up their end of the deal! Have a break down free day!

  10. Gee, $575 would go a long way toward a new refrigerator. I hope that the fixes keep it going for years and years to come! (I take your word on Kitchenaid fridges seriously. My washing machine repairman told me that Maytag no longer means a thing either....ackkk!)

  13. I almost become paralyzed when an appliance break. I have had problems with digital appliances. My front load washer broke in May when it was only 10 months old. It was under warranty but it took six weeks to have it repaired. When I got a new dishwasher last winter, I bought the only model on the floor that wasn't digital.

I love beautiful dishes and your place setting is lovely.

  17. Hi Mary,

I'm glad to hear it is working again. The best fridge we ever had is in the garage (old Nordge) with man-type-auto repair-part-stuff stickers all over it! They just don't make em' like they used to.

    Hugs,
    D
