Tea in the Library

We're enjoying a cup of tea this morning in the library here at our Little Red House.  Try to ignore the messy coats hanging up near the door, and the piles of books under the table.  The morning sun streams in through the window, and it's the perfect place to waste a little time with a good book.

Well, not waste, exactly.  More like use up time that might be more profitably spent doing the laundry or making the beds.

But the sunlight beckons, and the laundry will wait.  And everybody needs a cup of tea in the morning, right?

I knew all these tole trays would come in handy one day!  ;)

Wishing you all a wonderful morning!  Give yourself a treat, and head over to Jeannie's place to join the Home Library Party.  :)

  4. A good choice, not every morning is a sunny one and with autumn advancing the sunshine will become a dwindling resource *sigh*. Your library is so inviting I am afraid my laundry would be sky high:>)

  9. You have the most charming house. I am living through these pictures for my books are being sorted for packing or giving away. But I always have my one favorite that I read from in the morning.

  10. Hi Mary,
What a nice spot to have a cup of tea and read a good book. That book about Chez Panisse looks interesting - of course I'm always interested in "foodie" books.
The Library Party got me to clean ALL my bookshelves. What a job! But I was thinking we should have a party a month - then my house would surely get clean! Why don't you pick the next room?

  11. Going to go make some tea right now. There's no sun this morning, it's raining, but a cup of tea is good anytime. I'll take it and sit by the window with the dog and ponder my chores for the day.

  12. I only wish my library looked that cozy and welcoming. It's the last room in the house that I'd actually read in....some day I'll have bookcases and then maybe. Your home is so beautiful and inviting!

  13. Oh Mary, how lovely. You know I was looking at that stack of books next to the sofa. You are so ahead of the curve. Just the other day I saw a photo in a decorating book that had a coffee table that was nothing more than a stack of coffee table art books!

I feel so much calmer now that I've had tea in your library. Now I'm off to scrub the newly tiled floor with some kind of acid!!!

  27. Your house is so beautiful and always looks so calm and restful.

I unfortunately spend too much time drinking cups of tea and having little breaks (aka procrastinating) or maybe my house would look a little more restful too!

  28. What a good idea to read a book, have a cup of tea when the library looks so inviting and beckons with a little sunshine through the window. All the every day tasks that creep up every day without asking can wait. Tomorrow is an other day!

  32. The perfect way to spend a day in the most perfect spot...nothing to forgive about it at all. Those books look amazing and only show that someone who loves the written word lives here! besides, decorating with books is so lovely.
Laundry is one of those never ending jobs...a good book and a cuppa is just too sweet to pass up for a pile of dirty socks.*grin*

    Love,
    Sue

  33. Mess, what mess?! The coats hanging up and piles of magazines and books make the room look extra cozy. I would love to sit in a room like that with the sun streaming in and drink tea. As long as everyone has clean underwear, the laundry can wait.

I also love Alice Waters. What a nice place to curl up in that wing chair or settee in the window to read with a fire! Heaven.
