Till the Cows Come Home

Till the cows come home...

That is apparently how long we have to wait for the part that will make our three-year-old KitchenAid refrigerator frosty again.  Cost to expedite shipment of the part?  $40.  Guarantee that it will arrive here by Friday?  None.

I have a huge headache from dealing with the inaptly named "Customer Service" department at KitchenAid.  But on the other hand, I have found that Lindt White Chocolate Truffles are really, REALLY good.

Really.

What is your chocolate of choice?

*****

Oh, and no more whining.  I promise.  :)

  3. The KA situation is a sad state of affairs--I worked for KA at their headquarters in Troy, OH before they were purchased by Whirlpool. Do the customer service people realize just how many people YOU reach via your blog? Not that it will make a difference in any way, but I'm emailing an old friend who still works for KA/Whirlpool and sending a link to your blog. Customer Service used to mean something there, and poor word of mouth was something they wanted to attend to. On the other hand--it is a good excuse to eat chocolate!

  4. I have a weakness for extra dark chocolate covered raspberry truffles from Godiva. But if it's not in the budget - french truffles from Trader Joe's. You get 24 for $1.99. But you don't feel guilty for the price and you end up eating half the box before you know what happened!

  5. Oy, what a pain! I hope it works out better than expected.

Personally, I like dark chocolate best, but I'm with you on the Lindt truffles - very yummy.

  7. Three years old?? They should give you a new one. That is ridiculous. My favorite chocolate is anything I can get my hands on...but I do love my Kisses;)

  9. Customer Service--there is no such thing anymore. I remember when manufactures cared about customer loyalty.

  10. Sorry about the fridge...but you are SOOOOO CORRECT about the ability of Lindt white chocolate truffles to fix all the evils the world can throw at you. Those things are sooo freaking delicious. Chocolate....oh How I love thee!!

  11. I can empathize on being without a fridge. Ours died after 8 years, and just as we loaded all the food into ice chests and decided to get another one, it came back on... but I was afraid not go ahead with purchasing the new one. The guy that hauled it away said it might continue to work for years or it might die that night... I never bothered to follow up to see what happened.

Mine was not a KA, btw.

  13. Have to try the Lindt truffles...but if we could get hold of some real English Cadbury, then next week would be just fine for the part to arrive...it's that good!

    Hang in there,

  16. I think you've earned the right to whine. We all understand the stress of broken appliances and the not so service oriented customer service people.
My favorite chocolate is milk chocolate. Costco sales so wonderful milk choc truffles that are rolled in Cocoa power. MMM yummy!

  17. Oh yes, I agree with all further comments! You are allowed to whine! Sigh!

  18. I wish I could say I was picky when it came to chocolate, but if it's within reaching distance it's gone no matter its pedigree. If I had to pick favorites I guess I'm partial to Ghirardelli chocolate or See's Nuts and Chews, I suppose.

  19. I love anything with chocolate AND peanut butter. And you may whine. You have my permission.

  21. I feel your pain. I will never buy an extended warranty again.... or a Whirlpool product.
    The customer service is horrible.
    P.S. Try some Kron chocolate....
They have a web site if you don't have a store.

    Love your site & pictures...

  25. Goodness gracious you poor thing!

Thanks for the tip though as it seems that sometimes customer service brings out the best! I'll have to remember the chocolate remedy the next time I'm in that situation.

I had terrible customer service yesterday! We purchased a 5 year warranty on our leather furniture. It covers rips and tears in the fabric. Well our sofa developed a rip right smack dab in the seam where there is stress so I called customer service. Wanna know what they told me? They said that that was a defect from the manufacture and promptly let me know that they don’t cover manufacture defects! I’m still upset!!! So after my phone call with them yesterday I grabbed the nearest thing that I could crunch on (a bag of Doritos) and had too many that I had to forgo dinner last night. Perhaps I’ll try some chocolate to see it that would make me feel better.

  27. Honey -- we don't mind if you whine or "wine" And chocolate is a wonderful solution for so many problems in life! My chocolate of choice would be Cadbury's "Fruit and Nut" bars ..... very nice with a cold glass of pinot grigio. Or chardonnay ..... LOL!

  30. Been there! We got ours fixed a few years back. The innovative work of the repairman left us with the task of deicing the thing every week. Oh, joy!

  31. "Louis" appreciates positive publicity for his bovine brethren.

"Louis" will never turn down a piece of Valrhona chocolate...

Don't get him started on his rant about "Customer Service".....

  34. HI Mary, I came over to thank you for your comment re my skywatch picture and to say my ear is feeling much better thanks, then I came to your other blog! I feel really at home here! My fridge is on its way out I think, currently I need to de-frost it most weeks. But it is an integral one bla bla bla.......

Loved your china, very english. Yes I think I will like it here so I am going to add you to my favourites.

Oh by the way, I am allergic to chocolate, all kinds make me feel very sickly so I am a good friend to have as I pass on all chocolate gifts. LOL!

  35. I love all chocolates too much, therefore I never buy them and when I get them I divide them among my visitor of that day! I prefer Belgian chocolates. I hope your fridge is working now!

  36. Mary,

I am so sorry you have to deal with this! Whine away, my dear! No such thing as customer service at many once fine companies, these days. Bah!

I love any good, dark chacolate; Scharffen Berger is one of my favorites. I would not however, pass up a white chocolate truffle!

    Love the new banner photo!

  37. Hi Mary,

I love those Lindt's but I prefer the regular chocolate ones, boy that sounds yummy right now! Hop over to pick up an award when you can.

  38. Oh the bothers of customer service! Aren't phone trees the most annoying thing, too?

Lindt chocolates are some of my favorites! Hmmm..that is a tough question...But I think my most favorite chocolates are the See's Dark Chocolate Truffles. They just melt in your mouth and a absolutely fab with coffee or red wine.

    Have a lovely weekend, Mary!

  40. Favorite chocolate? My grandmother's chocolate fudge icing. Geez...I'm craving it now. Might have to go back a chocolate cake just so I can make the icing...

And what is it with "customer SERVICE" departments anyway??
