Yesterday was one of those wasted days. I spent most of the morning trying to reach the refrigerator repairman. I also ferried my daughter around to various places, and ferried all the food from my now-not-functioning fridge to the backup fridge in the basement. When I finally reached the repairman, he told me that the earliest he could come was this morning, between 8:00 and 12:00. So today will probably one of those wasted days, too.
I also spent a little time researching my refrigerator online. And let me tell you, when you google "KitchenAid refrigerator and problems" you find an awful lot of trouble. (Hmmm, probably something I should have done before we bought it, huh?) I actually did do some research then, but I don't remember seeing anything like the stories that are up now.
This refrigerator is barely three years old, and we have already had to replace the icemaker. And I suspect that the needed repair is going to be major, as the fridge is not working at all right now. Aaaarrrgh!
As far as the car is concerned, the mechanics at Honda called yesterday afternoon to say that they could not find anything wrong. I referred them to our neighborhood mechanic, who told them that they needed to run the car for at least an hour to replicate the transmission symptoms.
They are going to try again today. So, as I said, this will be another wasted day for me. What fun! But thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your cheers and support. And yes, the chocolate helped!
Oh, by the way, the dishes have nothing whatever to do with my post today, but I just thought you might enjoy seeing them. Happy Wednesday!
I love the dishes and the napkin underneath! I am sorry to read about your woes....I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher (5 yrs old) that is broken....the repairman has been here to fix it several times and it just keeps breaking. The warranty has expired so I think we may just get a new one....we will not get another kitchenaid.
ReplyDeleteKnock on wood, but we have a KitchenAid that we love. We have had it four or five years.
ReplyDeleteI hope today will be much better. Your place settings are beautiful. We all need beauty to help smooth out the rough spots in life.
Here's hoping things get straightened out with both the car and fridge. At least you have lots of pretty dishes to play with:>) My fave is the first one but I love them all. Hang in there Mary, better days are coming!
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest you go outside and scream as loud as you can! Vent that frustration. Yesterday a friend told me her KitchenAid dishwasher that is only 5 had to be replaced. Makes me worry about my 35 y.o. mixer, lol.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI love the dishes and the way you put the place settings together gives me new ideas :) Hoping today will be a better day :)
Hugs,
Dena
Love the dishes, are they your grandmothers? I guess when it comes time for a Frig. I will have to think twice about a kitchenaid. And hey maybe this is someones way of saying you need to slow down and just relax you earned it.
ReplyDeleteI love the place settings but I hate those "sit around and wait" days. Nothing wrong with the car? That's what the car's computer says but you know better. Have a better day today Mary. I hope the fridge problem is only minor.
ReplyDelete- Suzanne.
Bless your heart! I hope everything gets fixed soon!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your pretty dishes!
Pretty dishes~so sorry to hear about your car/frig problems.. hope you get good news about the repairs.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Kathy, you have a good eye. The first plate is Limoges, and by far the best.
ReplyDeletePam, No, they were not my grandmother's. Dishes 1,2,3, and 5 were thrift store finds. #4 was bought new in Homegoods.
As of 11am, still on refrigerator deathwatch... have not heard yet about the car...
Mary
Hi Mary -
ReplyDeleteYour dishes are gorgeous! As always. I hope your fridge and car problems have been worked out and that your bills for them weren't as bad as thought possible.
~Adrienne~
Mary, give this a try. Have a conversation in the kitchen, standing right in front of the fridge, and discuss out loud, in gory, grizzly detail, what happens to balky, sulky appliances when they are sent to the appliance graveyard. Be specific; explain how doors are removed and many other internal workings are cut out to be used in other ways, too hideous to explain. Be blunt and matter-of-fact, and then say that it's time to call the Appliance Man. Leave the kitchen and let all that you've said linger in the air.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, it's a way to vent your frustration without taking an ax to the thing!!
May the rough spots be ironed out soon. Take care.
I'm sorry to hear about your woes, but I do love the pictures of the dishes. They are a welcome breath of fresh air. Here's hoping that you get some good news today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing the dishes! Beautiful place settings. I hope they get all your problems with the fridge and the car taken care of soon.
ReplyDeleteYour dishes are lovely and I really hope that your problems are fixed soon. I have an award for you at my blog. Hopefully it will help to cheer your day.

Your place settings are gorgeous! Love them.
ReplyDeleteOur fridge in the garage died. I want to move the kitchen one to the garage, and buy a new one for the kitchen. Yet...it's been a year and we haven't. Sigh. I miss having 2 fridges, especially when all 5 boys are here!
I love the juxtaposition of these gorgeous dishes and your tale of crap. I wish all our woes could look so pretty;)
ReplyDeletebeautiful dishes your frig problems I have sympathy have had mine for 2 1/2 years its a maytag the motor burned out company paid for the motor under warranty but not the 280.00 service call the motor was 55.oo figure that hope your problems arn't severe...
ReplyDeleteI used to work for Sears repair and trust me, major fridge issues are not at all limited to Kitchenaids - they all stink as far as I could see. I am hanging on to my old freon-based one as long as I can! I have been having a chocolate ship kinda week myself!
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes, and that first spoon is a beauty, also. Those wasted days are a pain, but I always try to be thankful I have the day free to handle things like that. May tomorrow be better for you. Sally
ReplyDeleteI fully understand. Our Subaru's "check engine" light just came on today. I'll have to bring it in tomorrow. Serenity now!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pat
I can sympathize with you on broken appliances! And you cracked me up with the comment about your dishes, because the whole time I was wondering what they had to do with your sad story. But heck...it's much better than seeing your broken refrigerator! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to explain how much I like your blog and your bellissima little red house by my english, but I'll improve it because it is a pleasure to leave a comment at your pictures and words.
ReplyDeletewonderful spoons!
ciao

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes! I'm sorry you're having so many problems. Hope all works out soon!
Hugs,
Donna
Beautiful dishes, Mary! I am sorry to hear about the "hiccups" that are in your life right now. Hang in there -- they will soon pass! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I enjoyed seeing your lovely dishes!
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes! I thought that they were kind of a silent way of saying that you have no time to cook - being as the plates are empty.

Gasp... these are truly beautiful pictures! I love them.
ReplyDeleteAnd from such a dizzy day came these gorgeous photos! Dang refrigerator (and I so know this feeling!) but oh what you can do with a camera and a table setting!
ReplyDeleteLove,
