I just wanted to show you a couple of really cute spoons that my friend, Robin, gave me recently. She knows that I have a thing for monogrammed flatware, and when she saw these two little cuties at an estate sale, she bought them for me. How sweet is that?
They are really small. It's hard to tell without a bigger spoon in the picture for scale, but the smaller one is about the size of a child's spoon. I have no idea what they are for. Can anybody enlighten me?
Look at these monograms! Aren't they beautiful? I can't help it, I just get weak at the knees when I see monograms like this. ;)
Thank you so much, Robin. I love them!
Are they maybe mustard spoons, to go in mustard pots? I have a couple of very small spoons that look similar to yours, very small, with quite a deep round bowl that I am sure were for living in mustard pots. I'm sure no such thing would be made these days!
ReplyDeleteSugar?? Mini gravy spoons??
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Are they for marmalade?
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! What a wonderful friend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your friend knows you! They're lovely...blessings, pam
ReplyDeleteMe too! You've got a sweet friend! And some darling spoons!
ReplyDeleteThose are lovely. Your friend Robin is very special!
ReplyDeleteJelly or honey for the top spoon??? Salt or caviar for the bottom one, perhaps? I LOVE both of these-what a great find by a sweet friend.

ReplyDeleteno clue, but they are very pretty
ReplyDeleteYou've got a wonderful friend in Robin who knows you so well. I have no idea what foods these spoons were created to ladle but they are darling.
ReplyDeleteThe spoons are quite lovely, but I'm getting weak in the knees ogling your plate. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen silverware with monograms....very classy! Love these.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL spoons ... and even more beautiful piece of china underneath! I am developing a thing for a bee-theme I think :)
ReplyDeleteI do believe they are mustard spoons. At least the one that is bent. The little tiny guy...not sure. But hey, it's always good for sugar. :) Love your site.
ReplyDeleteoooooo I just love the spoons, how sweet of Robin to get them for you.. How lucky you are to have a thoughtful friend like her.... have no idea what they are used for, all I know is that they are so lovely.... lol

The top piece is a mustard ladle or spoon and the bottom piece is a master salt spoon.
ReplyDeleteI can tell those spoons were a little lift for your spirit. :) That made me smile...

They look like cute little ladles, they really are beautiful:>)
ReplyDeleteI think Mabelline is right. If the top one was a bit bigger, I would have said a "sauce" ladle...which is usually smaller than a gravy ladle. It is definitely a ladle and since it is so small, probably is for mustard or a condiment. The lower one does look very much like a Master Salt spoon...sound too large to be a salt spoon for a place setting. I, too, love monograms...not sure why. I think it's because they feel just a little decadent...not sure I spelled that right. :-) Susan
