Yes, I may be a little, shall we say, unhinged when it comes to milk glass. I have a hard time saying "no." (See other examples here, here and here.)
Enough is just never enough.
I came across this little beauty at my favorite thrift store. I didn't go there to buy anything.
I swear to God.
I just went to drop off some things from our recent closet clean-out. But you can't just drop off and not browse. At least I can't. So I came home with this little covered dish, and a few accessories for our newly painted master bedroom. If I can get my act together, I'll show them to you on Friday.
Happy Wednesday, dear bloggers. :)
OH MY! You shouldn't have! :) Mary, it is lovely! I would have grabbed it up too. I NEVER go into those stores to BUY anything. I always go to ...just look. ~smile~ You know..brouse a bit..
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe I stopped looking for Milk glass. Then one day..I saw your beautiful collection..on a sideboard, I think. The light on the glass..it looked pure and beautifully simple..and I was hooked once again!
You have a happy Wednesday too!
You and Kacey should start a Milk Glass business!
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love mild glass! So classic! I couldn't have resisted either. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou are starting to have a profound effect upon me, Mary. I never enjoyed transferware until... And I never enjoyed milk glass until... Recently, I found all the milk glass pieces that my mother packed away and have now got my dibs in just in case she's "over it."
ReplyDeleteMary
ReplyDeleteMilk glass-can be dressed up on a table or dressed down but always classy! Love the toile you are choosing for the bedroom, toile just makes me weak and I have it nowhere in the house...maybe when I redo the kitchen...
I am on vacation in SC and stole away to the Starbucks with my laptop while everyone is stil asleep to catch up on blogging, I missed it so much! Can't wait to see the big reveal!

Oh my goodness, I have that same piece minus the lid. I found it at a thrift store and even though it was missing a piece, I bought it anyway. It's so nice to see what the top looks like, I need to search for it now. Enjoy your new find.

Only a fool would pass up a lovely thing like that! I love its sweet little hobnail neighbor, too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great piece of milk glass! What a glorious shape it has. Sally
ReplyDeleteThis one is really special. Love the shape and, of course, the creamy milkiness of it!
ReplyDeleteI worked in a candy shop in high school and college and when I got married the owners of the store gave me a wonderful covered pedestal milk glass candy dish much like the one you show. Unfortunately my son at the age of 2 broke it and I have been looking for one like it ever since. I'll keep hunting because the hunting is the fun part isn't it. Have a great Easter.
ReplyDeleteIve never heard of milk glass, its so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou're hopeless for that stuff, aren't you? Happy Wednesday to you, dear Mary.
