Tablescape Thursday: Impromptu Luncheon

We're having an impromptu luncheon for Tablescape Thursday this week, mainly because I forgot about it until the last minute.  :)

The flowers are my old stand-by faux roses, set in a pair of pierced creamware baskets from Michael's.  The silver and crystal basket in the center of the table is a thrift store find.

The dinner plates were my mother's good china -- Noritake.  I'm afraid I don't know the pattern.  The salad plates each have a different design.  The markings on the reverse say:  "From the Private Collection of Georges Briard."

You've seen my thrift store wineglasses before.  I was lucky enough to find six of them for $2. each.

You've also seen my husband's salt and peppers.  I love the classic shapes.

The napkins are embroidered linen, also a thrift store find.

Where would I be without my favorite thrift store?  ;)

Many thanks to our Tablescape Thursday hostess, Susan.  Visit Susan's blog,  Between Naps on the Porch, to see lots of wonderful table settings.  :)

  7. Oh so pretty, Mary.
All of the dishes are just lovely and the centerpiece is adorable...
I am playing this Tablescape Thursday..I had shown almost all of my dishes and haven't got to "play" in awhile. As always with my table, it is very casual and playful and one of these days, I might have some elegant dishes like yours...I quit looking at the thrifts because I absolutely have no more room!! Not even long drapes like Gollum to hide them behind!! :O)

  24. Well I can see why it's a challenge to find the name of your Noritake...what a lot of china sets they've made through the years. I love the salad plates...so fresh and springy looking.

You always set a beautiful table!

  33. Hi Mary -- love the Briard salad plates! So pretty. The stemware is lovely, too -- I wonder why vintage wine glasses are so much smaller than the ones we use now? Do we drink more? or are we just too lazy to refill?

One of these days I'm going to have the nerve to try your instructions for enlarging blog pics. Thanks!

  35. The pattern of the plates is Victorian Garden designed by Georges Briard for Noritake...in fact you can purchase them often on ebay and at replacements.com.
    Love you table!!!
