OK, one more time for the Siberian Iris pictures. I just love blue flowers -- any shade, any hue. Maybe it's because my house is full of reds and sages and creams. At any rate, I don't think I've ever come across a blue flower that I didn't like. I have to pick and choose carefully, however, because I need to find flowers that the deer won't munch on. And so far, (knock wood) they have left my Siberian Iris alone. I love these flowers because I don't have to baby them, either. They pretty much just keep coming up every year. A few have even self-seeded. You gotta love a flower that is so obliging! Right now, they are filling the garden. They have been blooming for over a week and I just love them.
Do you have a go-to flower -- one that requires little work and always comes through for you?
Blue is my favorite in the garden as well...I also like bell flower and hydrangea for some more vibrant and true blues...beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteI would have the blues to if I had those in my yard. The beautiful blues, that is. They are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI think my go to flowers would have to be our hydrangeas. More blue.
Wow! I'm able to visit your blog! I'm up early and since it's not peak usage time, I thought I'd give your place a try. It took 10 minutes just to load, and I had to force each pic to open, but what a treat! I'm so glad I did. Your water droplets on the flowers below are just gorgeous, Mary. And these iris are perfect. Mine are all spent now. I think I've said this before, but we're two weeks ahead here.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the go to flower would have to be daylillies. I get the orange ones free, too. They're all over the edge of the pond that's in the woods. Have to truck them back, however . . .
So have fun storming the castle!
Good Morning Mary!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are breathtaking and sooooo beautiful! Oh how I wish you could come down here and take over my garden for me! You have the magic touch in everything that you do! As for me, I can count on geraniums to survive under my black thumb! ;-)
xo,
Kim
These are so beautiful...my, but you are so good at growing lovely flowers. There is just no such thing as a pretty flower in my garden...as evidence of my today's posting....sigh*......
ReplyDeleteenjoy yours,'bj
Love those irises. I had a big stand of them at my little cottage in Harrisburg but I haven't done much with the here. Note to self - add Irises!
ReplyDeleteMy "go-to" flower are all the cone flowers and black-eyed susans. They are drought tolerant and don't need great soil ..... works for me :-) Oh, plus after being in the ground a couple years....I can start dividing them!
((hugs)) Rosie
Beautiful blue flags, as my Dad calls them. I also love Baptista Australius (?sp) and Jacob's Ladder and the deer have ignored them here. I love your home. Christy:-)<>< ps-Please go see my Vertical garden on RMS, christyg427
ReplyDeleteYour Siberians are so lovely. I have them also and they're reliable. Mine are Siberian Caesar's Brother. The other flower that is totally reliable and blooms like mad is Stella D'Oro Daylilies. They are a strong buttery yellow color and they bloom and rebloom. Purple Coneflowers are also great but they don't like to be split and moved so I only have one stand of those.

Since I live in Arizona ... and don't have much of a green thumb ... the answer to that would have to be:
ReplyDelete"One that I purchase."
But white flowers are what I am drawn to.
I'm attempting to "de-lurk" everywhere today so I decided to answer. *Ü*
ReplyDeleteMy go-to flower WAS Vinca. But I seem to be killing a lot of it lately. Weird! Your flowers are gorgeous!
Awww -- absolutely gorgeous, Mary! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have Dutch Iris that very similar. I love their look and they add such gorgeous blue color to the garden. Thanks for sharing yours with us. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteYour iris are indeed lovely! My good old standby are black-eyed susan's. They come on later in the summer, but always put on quite a show.I also love blue in my garden, it seems to unite the earth and sky.
ReplyDeleteThese are the kinds of "blues" I love! They are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love lilies and since they are bulbs too they multiply I love when they do the work for you!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about a favorite "go to" flower, but I have noticed that whenever I buy a perennial of late, they tend to be blue...interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy garden is filled with purples, yellow and reds...My favorite is my lavender plants...
ReplyDeletePenny
I love blue flowers too. I think it's because they are so rare. Blue hydrangeas are my favorite (you probably already figured that out)!
ReplyDeleteMary
ReplyDeleteI have these, they are so hardy!
Hi Mary!
ReplyDeleteI love all your flowers posts and today;s irises were the best!
Stay cool!
Hugs, Pat
You are so lucky...I love Siberian Iris and mine have evolved into a large clump, but I only have 6 buds this year. Oh well, maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Yellow daylilies are the flower that I can't kill. They were at my home when we moved here 10 years ago and I have divided, and divided, moved to other areas, given away and they come back year after year. They were lonely so I have added orange, red and peach to keep them company. They bud and bloom at different times, so I will take photos and wait and post a lily show. If I am lucky the blooms will be perfectly timed and will be my Monday bouquet.
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning irises! I agree with others who have stopped by: my go to flowers are hydrangeas, too. I love them in any color. There are white ones on my front porch, pink ones on my back deck, and light-pink-to-green ones in my living room.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!

Beautiful, Mary!
ReplyDeleteYes Ma'am...I have an all the time flower......dandelions!!!:^)
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so lovely, and I'm so jealous!! Texas is known for it's early spring wildflowers....now it's the middle of June and everything is drying up!! 99 degree temps for a week or two is even wearing out my morning glories :^(
Oh well, I will just appreciate yours all the more!
