In Love

Look at this dish I got at the giant rummage sale on Friday.  I'm in love with this dish.  Seriously.  Yes, I know it has a little chip, but perfection is boring, isn't it?  Besides, it's not like I'm going to actually use it as a serving dish.  No, siree.  I'm just going to put this baby in a plate stand and stare at it.  And smile.  Because I'm in love.

There is no mark on the back of the dish, but it looks to be hand-painted.  Have any of you ever seen anything similar?  The lady who sold it to me at the rummage sale thought it looked a little like Quimper.  I don't know.  But whatever it is, I love it.  And the best part?  It was $4.

And just look at this big hunk of copper beauty.  Two dollars.  Two freakin' dollars!  I actually practiced a little restraint.  They also had a huge copper pot for $8. but I did not know where I would store it, so I left it.  Wasn't I a good girl?

I love the giant rummage sale.  I really do.

More rummage love tomorrow.  :)

  1. Good morning, Mary. You made me smile this morning with your new treasures. I've been in love with a dish before myself. Your's is very special.

  2. Oh that plate is so pretty! From what I have seen of Quimper, it is not painted as nicely as your dish. Quimper is charming, but your dish looks like a much finer piece.
Love the coper piece too! You did great!

  4. You find the BEST STUFF Mary. Seriously, you need your own TV show where you go around and show people how to spot the best sales and the best stuff.

I love the little dish. My question is, where do you store all your finds? I'm running out of room and seriously need to think about adding on a butler's pantry.

The copper tray is quite a find also!

  8. Good Monday Morning Mary....the dish is wonderful, love the little dog. It does resemble Quimper, the grass is painted in the Quimper style but I would think it would have a mark on the back. Love the cooper tray are you going to polish it or leave it as is....

  10. Mary,

I am thinking that maybe next year we need to have a Blogging Gals weekend in New Jersey and we could all go to the Big Rummage Sale, but you would get first dibs, of course. We would all politely (what??) vie for the spoils.

  12. Great finds! And restraint! I would have brought home the pot too. But I could probably find somewhere for it, so no restraint here. I'm proud of you.

  13. Lovely items Mary! Anything that is red transferware is a great find in my book. The copper tray will be both useful & decorative.

I want to go rummaging with you!

  18. Very nice I can see why you love the dish. I love dishes that tell a little story, or at least gives a picture of a possible story, letting your imagination take you away.

  20. * OMG, I had a few varied pieces almost identical to this, only they were in black/darkest grays on white... I bought them at a flea market in Germany (my FAV flea market) & ADORED them, especially because we HAVE a hunting dog & my husband IS a hunter! (Gosh, they're SOMEWHERE in a big storage garage we rented 4 years ago when moving here, & said we'd just keep "temporarily"... have never had the TIME or the ROOM to UNPACK the storage garage... YET!). Either way, I can TOTALLLLLLY understand falling in love with it~ yes, CHIP and ALL!!! (If a piece makes you just simply FEEL GOOD n'SMILE, it MUST be yours!!!). Good going, girlfriend!!! Warmest, Linda *
