Just a few shots of my Autumn Crocus. You gotta love these things -- plant them and then forget them. They will throw out some fat, strappy leaves in the spring, which will soon die off. Then, just when you've completely forgotten their very existence, they burst forth in all their beautiful lavender/pink loveliness.
It's time for the last dance of the season.
Beautiful, Mary! So delicate. I don't have any of those...I want them. When do you plant them? What season? I'm going to get some, very lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, Mary, they are gorgeous. Do tell us more about them. Please! ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteThis photographic treat reminds me of a Georgia O'Keefe painting. Just what I needed this morning.
ReplyDeleteI am taking the day off because later I take my husband on his regular JohnsHopkins appt. It looks to be a beautiful day!
Ah, and we all know that the last dance is the sweetest. Savor!

ReplyDeleteHi Mary
ReplyDeletePlease take a visit over to me, dear friend, I could use some encouragement at such a sad time-Tara
How come I didn't know about these...I have spring crocus but didn't even know an Autumn version existed. What better time of year for a splash of color! Great photos too!
ReplyDeleteMary, I had no idea these even existed, I love crocus when I see them push through the snow I know Spring is around the corner. So I assume they are in the nurseries now amd just like any blub plant, plant them in the Fall ??
ReplyDeleteI have to check these out..thank you for the heads up.
Lovely photos,
Kathy :)
I agree, what a beautiful surprise.

I love that. Hope that we get many more delightful surprises before the season is out. Perhaps we can create a few for others if nothing else.

ReplyDeleteHi Mary :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers!
While I was reading the posts I have missed, I was scared for a minute, because I thought you were changing the color of your little red house... don't do that to me! :)
I love your autumn room and I've always loved your kitchen. I hope you get that Fall weather soon!
hugs,
rue
