More Rummage Love

Here is some more rummage love for you today:  a needelpoint pillow for $2. (can you believe that price?),

a Waverly red toile pillow for $6. (how could I pass up red toile?),

and two milk glass urns for $1.50 each.   (Actually, I can't really pass up milk glass, either.)

One more rummage post tomorrow, and then I swear, no more.  In the meantime, I'd love to hear what you look for when you go to a sale.

  2. May I come and go shopping with you? Honestly, I never see these sorts of things when I'm shopping and certainly not at those prices.

  5. Hi Mary!
Oh, I just adore rummage sales. What treasures! That toile is the pattern I want to do the formal living room curtains and window seat cushions in. The walls are a deep red and the toile will be perfect. You are a such a great rummage sale shopper! You should think about 'shopping' for us.. find lovely items, mark them up, and sell them to your readers!
Hope you and yours are happy and healthy!
    xoxo~

  6. I love the pillows, I have the Waverly toile in black in my dining room and kitchen. I look for plates, right now I am on the lookout for blue and white, a collection I just began this summer.

  7. Good moring Mary,
What unbelievable prices on your rummage sale finds! When I go garage sale or Goodwill shopping I never know what I'm looking for, just whatever jumps out & calls my name. I do love dishes, especially bowls & pitchers of all sizes. Who knows what I'll find at Goodwill today, it's 25% off for senior citizens, I guess that's one good reason for being 55! LOL :>)

  9. I love to see the things people buy! So pelase don't stop showing us!
Last Friday I saw a red toile and gingham sofa with toile pillows just like that one. They were asking $150.00 which was a bargain, I WANTED it, but I have no room for another sofa. I'm sure someone bought it and is thrilled.

  10. I look for platters, pretty dishes, things with acorns and squirrels, interesting kitchen ware, small furniture. But those pillows sure are pretty - I'm looking for those now too.

  15. What great finds!! Love the needlepoint pillow. I'm always looking for brown transferware, red tole trays, and anything else that I fall in love with. In May, we had a great time antiquing at "Antique Alley" in Northwood, NH. Is that close to you? Sally

  16. Seriously Mary, you need to go to Vegas!!! You are so lucky in your rummage/thrifting finds. The needlepoint pillow is fantastic.

Now tell me you have a rented storage space to keep all the goodies while you rotate the collections.

  18. Vee -- come on down and we will have a ball going shopping together!

Abbie -- I would have a problem shopping, then selling on. I would not want to part with anything! LOL

Suzanne -- we are bursting at the seams here, so maybe I should consider Abbie's advice!

Sally -- I am in NJ, about 4-6 hours from NH. But I'd love to go there and check out the antique shops!

  20. I love your milk glass - I have a few of those as well - and the pillows are gorgeous - I'm especially fond of the needlepoint one!! It always varies as to what I'm looking for! For a while it was the reproduction Staffordshire dogs for my daughter's college graduation present... Lately it was a simple styrofoam wig head that (that I finally found last month and just posted about today!)... And sometimes I'm not looking for anything in particular, but 'things' find me! ...Donna

  21. Love, love, love the red Waverly pillow.

I'm a succor for silver, classic books, baskets and of course all things light houses or flowers, especially roses. But I did a post today about my husbands latest find. Click over and check it out. You'll die!

  22. Those pillows are darling! I love them... and the milk glass pieces are just as cute. Don't be too hard on yourself for not being able to "pass up" those treasures. You did great! :)

I never see these things in thrift stores or rummage sales in my area... if I had a choice, I would look for the things you look for! :)

  27. Mary,

I never tire of seeing your treasures. You sure do find some great ones. I haven't been to the church one in awhile, but I must go. Hubby and I went to this junk/antique store down in englishtown. the stuff was just piled everywhere, and not the cleanest, but we had fun anyway. I found a vintage baby shoe (I am going to make a pin cushion out of it), and a lovely set of statues, and some nice hobnail glasswear. I just look, and see what strikes my fancy. I love old linens too.

  28. I always end up with a frame, and I rarely go to rummage sales. My tastes tend to be more modern, but I am beginning to fall in love with your decorating style. And I agree on that red toile. It would have been difficult to pass that one by.

  29. More terrific buys! I went out looking today in a few thrift stores and came away empty handed. I look for plates (to break for my mosaics), old books, wire baskets, vintage lace....
    Hugs,
    Penny

  30. I've needlepointed long and hard in my day - even petit-pointe as that pillow is.

I wouldn't sell that pillow for a penny less than $2000.00!! (Of course, that's also why I gave up petit pointe work. There's no money in it!

  31. I need some for my windowseat! I think I'll try eBay. I can't do a lot of shopping at flea markets because of my bad back, but ever since I was a kid and Tapestry by Carole King came out, I've wanted a needlepoint pillow in a windowseat. I have the windowseat...now for the pillow.

  32. Oooo I Love milk glass and the price? What a bargain!

  33. DANG....killer bargain on those pillows! You can't pass up red toile...I think thats illegal in at least 42 states!

  34. Write away as many posts on rummage sales as you want. I love seeing what other people get and especially your things. They are always so classy.

I look for whatever grabs my fancy, but I like getting books and plates in all sorts of contradicting colours. I love red and blue but then have another collection in pastels and pretties. I think I might put out the darker colours in the cooler months and the pastels are just right for Spring I think.
