Uncle

OK, I give up. I surrender. "Uncle!" I can't take one more minute of winter, so I am posting some pictures of my summer garden, all the while whimpering softly and splattering my keyboard with salty tears.

I'll be spending the rest of the winter curled in a fetal position. See you in April or May.

*********

Actually, I'm just being a tad dramatic. But I'm going through all my garden pictures, to help me look forward to the coming season. :) Does anyone else have some flowery pictures to share?

  4. How BEAUTIFUL! I am in love with your peonies! Aaahh... Someday. I, too, am eagerly awaiting spring! I don't know what I would do if I lived in the areas that get lots of dreary snow & ice! We are blessed with mild winters here, but I still long to go barefoot and feel the warm sun on my face! My heart goes out to everyone in Snowy Winterland!

Hang in there, Mary! The sunshine is coming soon!!!

  5. I've been looking at older garden pictures I have, too...this winter has been totally the worst with more bad stuff to come at the end of this week. Just got a new scanner, so I'm trying to figure out how to use it so I can scan some spring and summer pics into it.

  8. Hi Jeannie,
    To answer your questions:
The flowers behind the bench are wild roses, shown up close in the following picture.

What does "uncle" mean? You "cry uncle" when you surrender in a game -- I've no idea what game, or where the phrase originally came from. I'd better go see if I can look that up...

Have a wonderful day! Thank you all for your sweet comments. :)
    xoxo,
    Mary

  10. Mary, I hope spring visits soon! I changed my pictures on my blog, adding pretty flowers from a trip to Hudson Gardens in Denver, CO. It's a beautiful place to visit.

  13. Hi Mary,
Sorry you're blue and wishing for summer. This time of year I think we ALL are.
Did I mention that you won the door prize at my tea party? I forgot to have everyone check the bottom of their teacups. Yours had the gold star, so you won something too.
If you'll email me your address, I'll try to get it mailed today.
    Hugs, Laura

  14. I don't have pictures to share right now ... but I love looking at yours. I am totally with ya, honey. I am so fed up with winter and cold and snow and wind and ASTRONOMICAL gas bills. Your pictures are just what the doctor ordered.

    Love,
    Julie

  19. I love your garden pictures! Just what I need today. We're back to way-below-zero-temperatures today and it's very disheartening. For the most part I've been staying away from blogs that originate in warm climates, it's just too painful to watch. But I'll accept your time travel into summer because I know you're in the same situation as we are.

    Thanks Mary, I needed that.

  21. What a gorgeous garden! I can't garden to save my life (or the life of my plants!), and if we didn't have robust tropical plants filling our yard, then we would have none at all I'm afraid! Sweetie, come on over to my blog, the bus is leaving and we're all going somewhere wonderfully sunny for the day!

  25. Mary - at first I thought your beautiful iris picture was taken at the Presby Memorial Iris Garden in Montclair. Have you ever been there?
Hang in, winter is more than half over. That 60 degree day this week was a tease though.
